Pretty Parasols

While Parasols have been used for hundreds of years, they have now become such a hot trend in weddings and are that must have accessory. They are fun,functional and fashionable and also make such a great prop when it comes to photos. They are great for that modern bride and can also ad a bit of a vintage feel while adding a fashionable touch to a brides gown and her wedding party.

They come in all colors and styles these days it’s not hard for a bride to find them to match her color scheme for her wedding. They are used mostly in the spring and summer and on those hot days they provide the bride and her bridesmaids with a little shade which really helps when photos are taken outdoors.

Local photographer, Christen Jones of Christen Jones Photography, has photographed many weddings and has some fabulous shots of brides and their wedding party with pretty parasols! As you can see, they make for the perfect accessory and really ads a special touch to photos.

Parasols can also be used to decorate with. They can be hanging from the ceiling at the reception, propped up on tables, lined up down the isle (this is great for an outdoor or beach wedding,) and mixed hanging with paper lanterns. Another idea is instead of having your bridesmaids carry flowers, they could each carry a parasol. If you have an outdoor, beach or garden wedding and worry about your guests getting too hot, you can have parasols for them to use to block the sun. This would help them stay cool and also make the view as you walk down the isle elegant. Not only can parasols be used to keep your guests more comfortable, but they can also be your wedding favors by letting your guests keep a parasol after the ceremony. Some brides have even personalized them by writing messages, the wedding date, the initials of the bride and groom, or simply “Thank you” on each one. While you may pay a bit more to have enough parasols to keep your guests out of the sun, think of the money you will save by also using them as your favors!
