The prom can have any number of themes but it's usually something tropical. Try making up plenty of Cuban Sandwiches for the kids to munch on between dance routines.

All proms have punch, so throw together a Red Carpet punch for the kids and chaperones to drink. It's a mixture of Ice cubes, 3 ounces sour cherry syrup, a 2 liter of orange soda and orange slices for garnish. This drink is entirely tropical in flavor and suitable for an exotic themed prom or a Hollywood style affair.

Cuban Sandwiches

You'll need the following to make these sandwiches for Prom: 4 individual Cuban bread loaves, 4 tablespoons butter, 1 pound shaved roasted pork, 1 pound shaved smoked ham, 1/2 pound sliced Swiss cheese, 1 cup sliced dill pickles and a waffle iron or two hot pans.

Preheat the pans. Slice bread loaves in half. Spread butter on both sides of each bread loaf. Layer roast pork, ham, Swiss and pickles between each of the sliced bread loaves. Place sandwiches in one hot pan, and place the bottom of the other hot pan on top so that the sandwiches are compressed and cooking on both sides. Cook for 2-3 minutes and serve. This makes 4 whole sandwiches or 8 half sandwiches for your prom guests.
